Sherpa is a unique and aromatic rum which is distilled exclusively from Indian sugarcane juice. Sugarcane originally comes from Asia, and it is precisely in India that sugarcane has a historical origin that goes back far into the past. The sugarcane is harvested in the region of Andhra Pradesh, where it is defoliated and cut short in the field with a machete before the stalks are loaded onto trucks and driven to the Agave Industries distillery, which is located close to the harvest area. Agave Industries works – as the name suggests – with Indian agave distillation, which in taste and expression is close to tequila, but they also distill their own rum from local sugarcane. When Wanderum visited Agave Industries and the distillery's founder Desmond Nazareth in 2017 and 2018, he succeeded in being allowed to work with his own recipe for rum, which, after determining the taste and expression, was finished as light and wild rum from the juice, which subsequently as 54% vol. rum, was sent to Nordisk Brænderi for aging in oak casks.
With each bottle of Wanderum you get a free Wanderum metal mug.
