Flávia Rodrigues – Brazilian Craftsmanship with a Danish Sense of Proportion
From her workshop in Belo Horizonte, Brazil, Flávia Rodrigues creates handmade pipes where precision, smoking quality, and aesthetics come together in harmony. She began making pipes in 2017 under the mentorship of Gustavo Cunha (MarTelo) and has since developed a distinctive style that blends classical European traditions with Brazilian creativity.
Her work is inspired by both English and Danish pipe design, with clear references to masters such as Hans “Former” Nielsen, Chris Asteriou, and Tom Eltang. Her pipes are characterized by balanced proportions, deep sandblasts, elegant contrast stains, and hand-cut stems made from German ebonite.
Flávia primarily works with briar from Italian suppliers such as Mimmo Romeo and Manno, often combined with organic Brazilian materials such as jabuticaba wood, horn, or metal accents. Production is very limited, and each pipe is a unique creation.
The result is modern Brazilian pipe making – rooted in the European tradition yet expressing a strong and personal artistic voice.
