Herriot Pipes
Chris Herriot is from United Kingdom and a former chef who today runs his pipe workshop from Charpey in France – close to the historic pipe-making town of St. Claude. His journey into pipe making began during the pandemic, when woodworking was already a favorite pastime. What started as a hobby quickly grew into a passion, and he began carving his own briar blocks. Through social media he was discovered by Chris Kelly of Eldritch Pipes, who introduced him to techniques, materials, and the craft’s foundations.
He later made his way to St. Claude, where he met Bruno Nuttens – an experienced pipe maker and former student of masters such as Pierre Morel and Tom Eltang. Bruno became both mentor and friend, further shaping Chris’s skills.
Today, Chris describes his style as classic with a personal twist. He lets the briar “decide” the shape and strives for each pipe to embody elegance, precision, and its own unique personality.
