Benner Pipes
Bent "Benner" Nielsen is a Danish pipemaker born in 1944. He is educated as a carpenter. In the 1970ies he started to work for Karl-Erik Pipes making Danish freehand pipes, which was the biggest pipe export article in those days. After seven years with Karl-Erik he worked with names like Zettervig and S. Bang. He also made pipes for the famous Danish pipe shop Pipe-Dan. In 1980 he decided to go back and work as a carpenter. He sold all is equipment and no pipes were made. Around 30 years later he made a comeback and started to make some pipes again around 2010. Pipes since then are primarily sold locally. For this reason Benner pipes are not that known outside Denmark. Benner Pipes stands out for being one of the few Danish pipemakers that now and then use olive wood instead of briar wood.
